Q2) What is the best way to get from the airport to Richmond Lodge by public transport?

• Airport bus to Southern Cross bus/train terminus
• Box Hill tram (109) from Collins Street
• Get off at Church Street & head down towards the 7/11 Store, which is opposite Buckingham Street

Q3) How long does it take to get from Richmond Lodge to the MCG by public transport?

• Walk to the corner of Church Street & Bridge Road - 5 Minutes
• Catch city bound tram in Bridge Road to Hilton Hotel - 5 Minutes
• Average wait for tram 5 minutes

Q4) How much is a taxi fare from Melbourne Airport to Richmond Lodge?

$50 - $60 depending on time of day and traffic conditions and whether the Taxi comes via City Link and Burnley Tunnel.  Should you be landing at Avalon & you are not going to rent a car, we strongly suggest that you take the Sunbus to the city & then either tram or taxi to Richmond Lodge. Q5) Is car parking available at Richmond Lodge?

Yes there is off street parking available but only on the basis of 1 car per apartment

Q6) Can we receive comprehensive directions on how to catch trams to specific locations from Richmond Lodge?

Yes we are more than happy to do this.

Q7) My partner likes to smoke. Can he do this on one of the verandas?

No!! Richmond Lodge is strictly for non smokers only!! Other guests on their veranda would not be happy about this. We suggest that you try these places where smoking is permitted on the verandas.

Q8) Are MCG, Rod Laver Arena, Riverwalk,Hisense Arena, Epworth Hospital, Melbourne Clinic easy to access.

Yes they are easily accessible by tram or walking. The overwhelming majority of our guests walk to these places.

Q9) Are meals served at Richmond Lodge?

No, but there are many varied restaurants & 24 hour supermarkets within close proximity?

Q10) Is cooking equipment supplied?

Yes crockery, cutlery & cooking utensils are supplied

Q11) Do I have to bring linen?

Bed linen & towels are supplied.

Q12) Are there irons &  hair dryers in the apartments at Richmond Lodge?

Q13) How far to the nearest swimming pool & gymnasium?

These are about 3 minutes walk.

Q14) What about golf?

Richmond Burnley 9 hole course is about 5 minutes drive, but bookings are essential.

Q15) What are the normal check in/out times?

Check in is normally between 2 pm & 7 pm. If you require an earlier check in please be sure to advise us. We can only do our best. If the apartment is not ready there is a place to leave your luggage.

Q16) We intend to arrive after 7 pm. How will I pick up the key?

Please ring ahead to advise of your estimated arrival time & someone will provide the key. For those staying less than a week, we don’t do check ins after 10 pm.

Q17) Is it quiet?

Yes Richmond Lodge is in a quiet location and rarely has a problem with heavy thru traffic. If fellow residents are having a party or making raucous noise after 10 pm requiring management attendance this would be regard as a very serious matter resulting in immediate check out without refund.

Q18) What do I need to access the ADSL service at Richmond Lodge?

You will require a laptop with a network card & the ability to connect to a category 5 cable.

Q19) How do I approach Richmond Lodge from the Hume Freeway? 

If you're approaching Melbourne from the north from Sydney or Canberra via the Hume Freeway, we suggest the following route read in conjunction with our copies of the maps from our Directions to Find Us Easily Page:-

• As you approach the end of the Freeway you will have to take 3 left exits in quick succession.
  
• The 1st is the Greensborough Turn Off onto the Northern Ring Road & the next is 500 metres beyond that onto Edgars Road. 
  
• From Edgars Rd there is a left turn onto Mahoneys Rd (Blue Metro Route 48) Make your way to the right lane on Mahoneys Road for  a right turn into High St (Blue Metro Route 29).
  
• From here proceed in a southerly direction with the rail line on your left. 
  
• Cross at the level crossing & lights & continue along High St(29).
  
• From here the traffic builds up & slows you down, particularly with trams beyond Dundas St. 
  
• Follow the tram tracks for about 10 minutes then (29) veers to the left after passing under a rail bridge.
  
• (29) then becomes Hoddle St - a divided road. 
  
• Follow this in the left lane & turn left at Victoria St(32).

Q20  How do I approach Richmond Lodge from the South East via the Monash Freeway?

If you’re approaching from this direction, we suggest you exit from the left at the Burnely off ramp. This is  the next exit after Toorak Rd.

• Follow the signs to Burnley/Richmond until you are at the south end of Burnely St. 
  
• Follow Burnely St  & cross Swan St & Bridge Rd, both with tram lines. 
  
• Buckingham is on the left one street past Kent St.

Q21  How do I approach Richmond Lodge from the West via the Westgate Bridge &  Westgate Freeway?

If you’re coming from Ballarat the Western Ring Rd links to the Westgate Freeway (From Geelong) about 5 kilometres west of the bridge.

• Once over the Bridge stay in the lane 2nd from the left. Traffic will be at 80/kph here.
  
• Follow this freeway into the Burnley Tunnel. 
  
• Once in the tunnel stay in the extreme left lane. 
  
• Exit to Burnley St at the end of the tunnel.
  
• Follow Burnely St  & cross Swan St & Bridge Rd, both with tram lines.
  
• Buckingham is on the left one street past Kent St.
